Forgotten Runiverse is Coming to Ronin!

We are very excited to announce today that we have finalized a partnership with Sky Mavis to launch Forgotten Runiverse on the Ronin network! This partnership will be instrumental in growing the player base for Forgotten Runiverse in the web3 space, and will bring the opportunity to millions of players on Ronin to experience our magical fantasy MMORPG.

Ronin is an EVM blockchain made specifically with gaming in mind. Their architecture will offer all Forgotten Runiverse players exceptionally fast and cheap on-chain transactions to make the gameplay and on-chain experiences integrate seamlessly. As home to other top-tier projects like Axie Infinity and Pixels, we’re confident that Ronin is the right place for Forgotten Runiverse, and that Sky Mavis is the best partner to help us scale Forgotten Runiverse to reach gamers everywhere. 

We are excited about the potential for growth and engagement that this partnership will bring to Forgotten Runiverse. It is our staunch belief that Ronin is the best place to play for web3 gaming, and the community there including YGG, the Pixels team and all the other great partners will help to ensure a long-term future for the Runiverse where anyone can play and own everything they create.

Migrations Details & FAQ

To streamline the gameplay and on-chain experience, we will be migrating all Forgotten Runiverse game NFTs to Ronin from current L1 and L2 chains – these collections are Runiverse Real Estate, Watcher’s Rings, and Quantum Gifts. The Forgotten Runes Wizard’s Cult NFTs and related character collections will not be migrating to Ronin. 

What assets are migrating to Ronin?

All game-specific collections will be migrating to Ronin. Those collections are:
– Watcher’s Rings
– Game Items 
– Runiverse Real Estate

Are Forgotten Runes Wizard Cult assets moving?

The Forgotten Runes Wizard’s Cult will remain on the Ethereum blockchain along with all other character collections. You will still be able to use your Wizards as customs skins and get their perks as planned. 

What do I have to do for the migration?

Because the Ronin blockchain uses EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine), your wallet address on the Ronin chain is the exact same. On July 17th there will be a snapshot for all Runiverse assets.

For Quantum Gifts, your in-game Forgotten Runiverse account will be credited with whatever Quantum Gifts are held in your wallet at the time of the snapshot. Quantum Gifts will have to be re-minted on-chain from within the game once we are live again. If your wallet is not connected to a game account, gifts will be awarded once that wallet is connected to an account.

Watcher’s Rings and Runiverse Real Estate will be airdropped to your wallet address on the Ronin chain.

If your assets are currently held in a contract address or Safe wallet, they must be migrated to a wallet address you have direct access to. Because these contract addresses do not exist on the Ronin chain, it may be difficult to credit your account.

We’ll deprecate the old collections with clear indications that they are inactive so that there is no confusion. You are not required to bridge or burn any of your previous assets.

Do I need another token to use Ronin?

Ronin transactions are extremely cheap, but do require the usage of the $RON token for gas. It can be purchased from a number of centralized exchanges, or via platforms like Ramp. For a complete list of where you can acquire $RON, check out their official documentation

Can I bridge my ETH to Ronin to use in the game still?

Yes! The official Ronin bridge connects to Ethereum L1 and allows for ETH, USDC, and other assets to be migrated over. Ronin has its own decentralized exchange (Katana) where you can trade assets on-chain once you’re there. Once ETH has been bridged to Ronin, transactions in-game using ETH will be significantly cheaper than using ETH on L1.

What wallet do I need to use Ronin?

We’re big fans of the Ronin wallet since it’s made and optimized specifically for the Ronin chain. You can create a Ronin wallet here: https://wallet.roninchain.com/. But Metamask can be used as well.

You can import the same wallet you use for Metamask, since Ronin runs on EVM via private keys/seed phrase or connecting your hardware wallet.

Will we have to create a new account if we already have one?

No! All of your progress from the Eve of Memory event – including the accumulated mana and any unminted Quantum Gifts, will remain untouched! Because of our hybrid on-chain/off-chain model, there isn’t any migration required for game accounts. Rest assured, your accounts are unaffected by this migration.
