Land in the Forgotten Runiverse
Land is the lifeblood of the Forgotten Runiverse, offering players a unique opportunity to stake their claim on the game world and shape its economy from the ground up. Scattered throughout the vast open world are plots of player-owned land, where various structures key to player progression can be built. By owning land in the Forgotten Runiverse, you help collaboratively shape the game world itself.
There will be NPC owned facilities in the game, but they will only service players up to a certain level. Towards the end game, players will be required to visit fully upgraded facilities in order to craft stronger items, skills, and reach their maximum potential. Only player owned facilities can be upgraded to the stages required for this level of player progression.
There are three main benefits to land:
- The ability to shape the game’s world and economy
- Earning a Usage Bonus from buildings on your plot
- Easier, direct access to the resources of your plot
While you don’t need to own a plot to reach the end game, owning one will be beneficial along the journey and will also unlock the potential to greatly increase your ability to shape the experience you and your friends have within the game world.
It’s worth noting that while resources can be found in the wild, collecting them at scale is much more challenging due to the semi-random spawn system. Plots offer a reliable source of basic physical materials needed for crafting everything from essential items like armor and Memory Crystals for spells, to decorative housing elements.
Owners also reap benefits when other players utilize facilities on their land. For instance, if you build a Gathering Station on your plot, you can choose to make its materials publicly harvestable. As a plot owner, you earn resources passively as players use your facilities.
This creates a compelling incentive to upgrade and optimize facilities on your land, making them prime destinations for other players to visit. Imagine building the highest-level forge and collaborating with friends and guild members to inscribe the most powerful recipes in it. As a result, players from all over the Runiverse will flock to your plot to craft the most potent gear in one convenient location. And as the owner of this forge, you’ll benefit greatly from their patronage.
And during the New Foundations event, there will even be a Donut quest exclusively available to private land owners! The exclusive Three of Greens card will only be awarded to those who build Gathering Plots on their private land during this event. This card can be taken to the Bugbear Temple on the Donut point site to exchange for Donuts!
Facilities
Available to build on your land are various facilities that cater to different needs and playstyles. Each facility has specific size requirements and offers unique benefits. Notably, larger plots of land offer greater versatility, allowing you to construct facilities from lower tiers and even combine them with smaller facilities from higher tiers.
Homestead
- Player Housing: Customizable home for plates to decorate and invite others to socialize. Also acts as a personal player storage for when inventory is full
- Gathering Station: Harvest resources from your land that can be used for crafting items
Settlement
- Mage Hall: Required for picking a player specialization, which strengthens specific playstyles/roles
- Mage Workshop: Craft ability crystals to learn new spells
- Atelier: Craft decorations for your home
- Forge: Craft equipment
- Large House: Larger sized customizable player home
- Temple: Sacrifice items in exchange for mana, a key resource in the game, among other resources
- Treasury: Allows players to mint, trade, and auction items. Also functions as a bank for plates to store items for a fee
- Large Gathering Station: Larger harvesting area to gather more resources
Village and City
- Guild Hall: Allows players to host guilds, collaboratively decorate, participate in guild quests, shop at the guild store, and access additional storage
- City Stone: Fast travel to other locations, and makes this destination fast travelable
These are just the core facilities that are planned to be available in the early releases of the Forgotten Runiverse. In later builds, there will be other facilities available, such as the PVP arena with ranked matchmaking.
When developing your land, you’ll need to consider both the type of facility you want to build and its color, as these factors determine its specialization. For instance, constructing a Red Mage Workshop allows you to inscribe high-level Red Wizard ability crystals on your property, but you won’t be able to create high-level Blue Wizard ability crystals there. For that, you’d need to build a Blue Mage Forge instead.
Crafting facilities also have limits on the number of recipes they can accommodate. This restriction makes it impossible for a single plot of land to provide everything a player might need, thereby preventing any one area from becoming a jack-of-all-trades. As a result, this system encourages the development of a diverse, player-driven ecosystem.
Plot Attributes
As of New Foundations, plots of land are still in a semi-revealed state. Plots earned by players from in-game events are all instantly tradeable and have their region and size revealed. Further plot traits are slated to be revealed before the game begins Live Service.
Region
The actual location of the plot of land in-game.The location of your plot can be important not only for aesthetics, but for certain facilities you build on it. Plots are organically scattered around the open world of the Forgotten Runiverse. As a result, it may be extra beneficial if you own a Town in a region that’s close to a key dungeon, as you could build a City Stone in that region that many people would like to use for quick and easy access to said Dungeon.
The region your plot is in has an influence on the types of materials that can be harvested from it. So depending on the types of materials you are most in need of, you may find one region more in line with your crafting needs than another.
Location
The Forgotten Runiverse’s game map employs a precise X,Y coordinate system to identify the location of each land plot. These plots are dispersed organically throughout the world, creating a dynamic and varied landscape. Understanding the exact position of your plot, rather than merely its general region, is important. This specificity becomes particularly significant as unique advantages await those who possess adjacent land parcels.
Land ownership opportunities extend beyond the open world, permeating the vibrant urban centers as well. Whether you’re drawn to the energetic atmosphere of Calista’s Citadel or enchanted by the ethereal serenity of The Fey, the Runiverse offers a diverse array of locales for you to call home.
Size
The size of your plot. Larger plots have a wider range of facilities available to build on them. They can also be sectioned off into smaller plots. So if you owned a Settlement, for example, you could build one large house, or two small houses. Or, you could build one small gathering station, and rent the other section of your land to another player to use. Land sizing falls into the following tiers:
- Homestead (8×8) – 52,500 total
- Settlements (16×16) – 16,828 total
- Villages (32×32) – 560 total
- Towns (64×64) – 105 total
- Cities (128×128) – 7 total
Not all plots will be available at launch. Most will be allocated to regions not yet revealed at the start of our Live Service. As more regions are revealed in future content updates over the next few years, plots of land will be revealed alongside them. When these new regions are revealed, the associated plots will become available for players.
A small portion of Land plots (10,924 plots) have been allocated to an early investor group and will be vested over time as the game develops and new areas are revealed. The remainder of the Land will be allocated to public land sales, gameplay events, and airdrops for the community.
Material Deposits
The types of materials you’ll find on your plot. There are 50+ materials available, and it’s possible for plots to be abundant and have many different kinds assigned to them. The region your plot is in determines what kinds of materials can spawn on your land – so those who are looking to gather as many different types of resources as possible would find great benefit in owning different plots of land across varying locations throughout the map.
Vestige
Increases the bonuses plot owners receive when players use facilities on their plot. There will be three different tiers of Vestige possible for plots to have: None, Faint Vistage, Major Vistage.
Marketplace

This intuitive platform provides a panoramic view of the entire realm, allowing users to navigate seamlessly from a sweeping bird’s eye perspective down to intricate neighborhood details.
